Samsung Ultra Mobile PC

   Samsung has launched a couple of new Ultra Mobile personal computers to expand its line of Q1U models, the Q1UP-V and Q1U-CMXP. The Q1U-CMXP maximizes connectivity with integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10/100 BaseTX, and an integrated HSDPA 3G cellular modem supporting the AT&T Broadband Connect network.

LG Display and Samsung Mobile show transparent OLEDs

    The actual benefits of transparent displays are yet to be explained – beyond the sheer cool factor, of course – but that isn’t stopping manufacturers from announcing them.  Both LG Display and Samsung Mobile Display have been flaunting their respective transparent OLEDs, the former having a full 15-inch OLED panel ideal for notebooks, while the latter has a 2-inch OLED panel intended for cellphones.

 

   Each replaces what would usually be the black portion of the display with transparency instead.  Where OLED displays usually emit light either from the positive or negative electrodes – e.g. viewable from a single side – these new panels emit light from both electrodes simultaneously, and are encapsulated in a transparent sheath.

Samsung Introduces World’s Slimmest Mobile LCD Screen

     Samsung announced that it has developed the thinnest reported LCD panel, one no thicker than a credit card at 0.82mm, which is 0.07mm thinner than the panel previously reported to be the world’s slimmest. The company also announced that it has developed a new mobile technology, which it is calling, “i-Lens”, for integrating the entire panel assembly, including a protective layer, into a single, thinner module that is more shock-resistant and easier to read than conventional panels.

Samsung UpStage

      Samsung UpStage is a thin wireless phone-cum-MP3 player from Samsung and Sprint. The device actually has a two-sided candy bar shape that looks like a phone on one side and an MP3 music player on the other. A “flip” button on the phone’s edge is pressed to switch between the two sides.

The phone side has a number pad and small screen for dialing calls and typing text messages, while the reverse features a large screen and touch-sensitive controls to navigate through song lists and view digital photos, video and Web pages.

       The Samsung F700 is Samsung’s newest addition to the Ultra family of mobile phones. The F700 features a 2.78″ color touch-screen display, a 5 mega-pixel camera with auto focus, and support for 7.2 Mbps HSDPA.
